FAQ: How To Answer Exam Questions
Choosing the correct answer in your exam can be difficult, but here are some strategies that can help improve your chances:
1. Read the question carefully:
Pay close attention to the question stem, including any qualifiers, such as "not," "except," or "most likely." Understand what the question is asking before considering the answer choices.
2. Cover the answer choices:
Before looking at the answer choices, try to think of the correct answer on your own. This helps prevent the answer choices from influencing your thinking or biasing your response.
3. Eliminate obvious incorrect options:
Go through each answer choice and eliminate those that are clearly incorrect. This can be done by identifying any choices that are contradictory, unrelated to the question, or provide incorrect information.
4. Consider all options:
Evaluate each remaining answer choice and compare them to one another. Look for subtle differences, key terms, or qualifiers that can help you determine the most accurate or appropriate response.
5. Use the process of elimination:
If you are uncertain about a particular answer, use the process of elimination to narrow down your choices further. Eliminating one or two incorrect options can increase the likelihood of selecting the correct answer.
6. Consider context and prior knowledge:
Consider the context of the question and draw upon your knowledge of the subject matter. Sometimes, reasoning through the question or recalling relevant information can help you identify the correct answer.
7. Avoid overthinking or second-guessing:
Once you have made your selection, avoid changing your answer unless you have a valid reason to do so. Overthinking or second-guessing can lead to unnecessary errors. Trust your judgment and move on to the next question.
If you need any further help, please contact your tutor directly.
